Cyber Wellness Tips
Cyber Wellness (CW) refers to the positive well-being of Internet users. It involves an understanding of online behaviour and awareness of how to protect oneself in cyberspace.

Useful Parenting Tips
To complement the cyber wellness curriculum in school, it is important for parents to set a good example at home in the use of technology and play an active role in guiding our children to navigate in cyberspace.
Here are some PARENTing Tips to guide your child in this digital age.
Provide Opportunities for Offline Activities
Spend time bonding as a family through activities such as sports and crafts so that your child has a healthy and balanced lifestyle
Activate Parental Controls and Filters in Devices
Help to regulate your child’s usage of devices by setting parental controls and filters. Guide for Parents on Setting Parental Controls (opens in new tab)
Role Model Good Digital Habits
Demonstrate safe, responsible and respectful behaviour when sharing, collaborating and creating online and avoid excessive use of technology

Establish Ground Rules for Devices Use
Discuss and set ground rules for devices use as a family.
Some basic rules could include the following:
Do's:
Seek permission before using devices
Have a time limit for the use of devices
Practice netiquette on the Internet
Respect intellectual property rights
Don'ts:
Access websites that have age restrictions (e.g. many social media sites have age limit for setting up accounts to comply with international regulations on children accessing social media).
Share personal information online
Share password with others
Spread rumours and say mean things online
Meet strangers face to face without parents’ knowledge
Consider to create a Family Media Plan
Navigate the Internet with your Child
Surf the Internet with your child so that you know what she/he does online and whether she/he is involved in age-appropriate activities.
Highlight to your child not to respond to anyone who says something inappropriate and she/he should immediately report to adults and leave any site if she/he feels uncomfortable
Talk about Internet Use
Communicate regularly with you child and get her/him to share with you
Her/his favourite online websites,
Things she/he does online
Her/his online experiences etc
Let your child know that it is alright to ask you questions or talk to you if she/he runs into unpleasant situations online.
